Led by our Certified Interpretive Naturalist Guide (CING), your journey begins with a dugout canoe ride up the Chagres River — a pathway still used today by the Emberá people. As the rainforest thickens, the sounds of birds, insects, and flowing water replace the noise of modern life. What emerges is not just a change in scenery, but a shift in rhythm — an entry into another way of seeing.
At the village, you’ll be welcomed by Emberá hosts who generously share their traditions, music, food, stories, and craftsmanship. Learn how plant-based dyes color woven baskets, how healing knowledge is passed from generation to generation, and how pride and identity remain strong in the face of change.

On an Isthmian Adventure, you will be accompanied by a Certified Interpretive & Naturalist Guide (CING). This means your guide has not only completed rigorous training in the nature, history, culture, and politics of the region, but also in the best methods for conveying knowledge in a matter that is engaging and fitting for the audience. Your guide has years of experience, is fluent in English, and annually renews their Wilderness First Aid (WFA) & CPR certifications.
