As you begin your hike into the highlands of Santa Fe, the trail unfolds gradually—through shaded forest, community farmland, and pockets of secondary growth reclaimed by nature. Depending on the group’s pace and the day’s weather, your route may carry you across hanging bridges, past reforestation sites, or through working agroecological plotswhere native trees and crops grow side by side.
No two walks are exactly alike—but that’s the beauty of it.
Along the way, your naturalist guide helps you tune into the forest’s quiet details: Zamia pseudoparasitica, Panama’s only epiphytic cycad, clinging high in the canopy like a relic from another era; the flash of a motmot’s tail through dappled light; or a freshly triggered camera trap capturing the silent passage of a jaguar or ocelot.
And always, the path leads to water.

This means your guide has not only completed rigorous training in the nature, history, culture, and politics of the region, but also in the best methods for conveying knowledge in a matter that is engaging and fitting for the audience. Your guide has years of experience, is fluent in English, and annually renews their Wilderness First Aid (WFA) & CPR certifications.
